An Old Soul

I took Sawyer to a food photo shoot yesterday for one of the magazines I edit. I was technically off work but wanted to meet the chef. Sawyer - snug in a sling on my hip - just took everything in like the laid-back boy he is. No fussing, just sweetness. The chef called him an old soul, and I have to agree. My little sweet pea.

Invasion of the Giant Slugs

My best friend was over recently with C. ... The big kids had a great time playing in the water (and making a tent out of a sheet and chairs), Sawyer got some love, and we found giant slugs!! Oh, and Stasia brought me my favorite - iced (decaf) coffee. It made me happy.

Photo Shoot

I took Parker and Sawyer for a photo shoot last week with a friend of a friend. She is starting a photography business and was offering free photo sessions to build her portfolio. I haven't seen all of the pictures, but she posted a few on her Web site. I think these are pretty good (although Parker's personality is not captured here - he looks like he's being tortured!). I can't wait to see the others. Here's the sneak peak...

Overwhelmed

I haven't posted in a while because life has just been overwhelming lately. Too little sleep, too much to do. Last night I was up until 11:30 folding clothes, washing clothes, laying out clothes for the next day, washing bottles for daycare, finishing up a freelance article, etc., etc., etc. Then I was up twice feeding Sawyer, and up for good at 6:30. It seems never-ending. I'm sure my perspective will all change when I get a full night's sleep. Now I have to go pump and start the whole process again. **Sigh**

On a lighter note - Sawyer laughed today for the first time - really laughed!! Jerod was playing with him, kissing his cheeks and giving zerbets, and he started laughing. What a sweet sound! I have so many pictures to post, but I don't have time right now. Here are a couple of photos from our recent visit to an old-fashioned Dairy Dip place built in the 1960s. I had the chocolate-dipped cone. Ice cream just makes you feel good.

Sleep, or the Lack Thereof

I wish this picture was typical! But little Sawyer is still sleeping in his carseat. He just sleeps better there, although I have tried getting him to sleep in his crib. Parker was the same way. Sawyer still wakes every three to four hours, and I'm sure at this point it's more for comfort than for the need to eat. (I mean, look at the boy. He's not starving.) Until Sawyer can roll onto his belly by himself, I'm pretty sure we'll be going night by night, waiting for the magical time when he sleeps all the way through...

Holy Back Yard Party, Batman!

Parker had his Batman birthday party yesterday. (Whew, glad that's over!) We had a blowup pool shaped like a pirate ship, a sprinkler, water balloons, squirt guns, batman masks, a batman cake and a pinata. The weather was perfect, and the kids seemed to have a great time. We didn't have any major meltdowns, and no one got clobbered by the bat while trying to hit the pinata. It was chaos for awhile, but that's part of the fun of it, right? I managed to take some pictures before the camera battery died.
Here are some highlights.
