Picnic Pics

Last weekend was the annual family picnic at J's work. It's always a lot of fun, with inflatable games for the kids and catered BBQ with lots of sweet iced tea. Before we went, we waited for nearly an hour to get gas! Crazy. Here are pics from the day, including photos of my friend Tina and her little boy, Kyle - and my friend Jill doing the bunjee game with her big boy, Parker! I tried the bunjee thing with Jill, but I learned that I am really bad at it. Thankfully, there are no pictures of that.

The Hills Are Alive...

We recently bought a decent sound system with speakers, thanks to J. I can't believe we waited so long. Before that we relied on an ancient jam box. (We still use it, but now it's hooked into the stereo and speakers, so the sound is completely different.) Soon we'll get an airport and will be able to stream music from the computer. ... Anyway, it's been great. There's less TV and more music in our house, which can only be a good thing. Most nights we jam some music, dance a little - and Parker performs some air guitar (or, in this case, net guitar).

Weekend walks

One of my very favorite things about our neighborhood is the little greenway that runs around it and along the river. Now that the weather is cooler, we've been taking short walks on weekend mornings. It helps everyone to just get out for a while, and Parker can run, run, run. Here are some pics from our walk last weekend when the fog was starting to lift.

Teeth ... Oh, the Teeth!

Sawyer, at eight months, is getting six teeth all at once (you can barely see one on bottom, and the other bottom one has yet to poke through) - and let me tell you, it is no picnic for anyone. Our chill little dude has turned into a little banshee, squawking and squealing if you put him down for a second. Orajel and Motrin help a little, but he is still very vocal these days and quite demanding. Take a look. Can't say I blame him.

Sweet Home (Away From Home) Alabama

Finally! It has taken me forever to get back to my blog... so here are some pictures of our fabulous beach vacation at Dauphin Island, Ala. It started out a little rocky - we spent the first day in the emergency room with Sawyer, who had inflamed, pus-covered tonsils and a high fever - but after the antibiotics kicked in, all was well. Parker's favorite activity - "surfing" in the ocean. We took a sunset cruise, splashed in the pool, hung out on the beach, hunted for crabs at night, and generally took life easy for a whole week. J and I even got to sneak away for lunch and drinks together at a little restaurant nearby. Thanks to Uncle C.P. and Nonnie for such a great time! Here are some highlights...
